A 14-year-old Arab boy drowned in Ras Al Khaimah on Monday while his younger brother was rescued in the last minute by a fishing boat.
The two brothers had gone into the water in Khor Al Rams while their elder brother, 18, stayed onshore, newspapers said.
A fishing boat which happened to be in the area managed to rescue the 12-year-old boy but could not find his brother.
Police said the rescued boy was admitted to the intensive care unit in Saqr Hospital while the body of his brother was found by divers at night.
According to Captain Yousuf al Mansoori, a marine rescue officer in RAK navy, swimming is banned in that area because of strong currents.
