A jobless Afghan who was traced to Ras Al Khaimah jail has been handed a three-month jail term followed by deportation by the Dubai Criminal Court.
The convict’s fingerprints were lifted from a robbery scene in Al Rahmani Company in Dubai that helped to track him down.
Although SR, 36, denied the accusation before the prosecution when investigated and in the first hearing on Monday, the fingerprints proved sufficient evidence.
On September 6, 2007, Korshin Mohammed Yousef, 39, an Indian salesman, was the first to arrive at his workplace Al Rahmani Building Material Trading Company in the Naif area.
Yousef testified before the prosecution he saw that a wooden door and its lock were broken. He immediately rushed to the security box and found that all of its contents were on the floor. So he immediately called the police.
Lifting fingerprints from the crime scene and matching them with suspect and criminal records, police found out that some matched those of SR who had a criminal record, testified Mohammed Abdul Rahman 36, policeman.
SR was by then serving a jail term in RAK. Confronted with the theft accusation, SR admitted to the crime and led the police to where he kept the stolen items. However, he later denied the charges before the prosecution and the court.
The convict’s fingerprints were not only evidence for the court but also helped police to trace his whereabouts. SR was found serving a jail term in Ras Al Khaimah.
