Ramadan Fasting: About 15 hours in the UAE

Ashraf Nourul Haq, Head, Calendar Section, Department of Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities, said the fasting hours during the month of Ramadan this year will be long in the UAE. And the average temperature during the month will be around 43°C.

 

The number of fasting hours will be around 15 hours throughout the month, he said.

During the first 10 days of Ramadan, though day-time temperatures will be at about 42°C, the nights will be pleasant.

The following 10 days, the temperatures are expected to rise to about 43°C with warm winds, said Nourul Haq.

During the last ten days of Ramadan, the air will be dry with dust storms at times and the temperature is likely to increase to hit 44°C.

Nourul Haq has appealed to all those fasting to take Suhoor regularly. He urged people to eat right, avoid spicy food and drink lots of fluids.

He advised people to be calm and peaceful, avoid being angry and forgive others.

Ramadan is expected to start on June 6, 2016 - 1437 Hijri and may end on July 5.
