Ramadan School Timings: Wait for KHDA

Ramadan school timings for Dubai private schools will be announced soon.

While some private schools have already issued notices to their parent community about their revised timing during the Holy Month of Ramadan, the education regulatory board says the official announcement is yet to come.

“KHDA is in consultation with schools and parents in order to understand and accommodate the needs of fasting students,” Amal Belhasa, Chief of Compliance & Resolution Commission at KHDA, told Emirates24|7 in an e-mailed statement.

“An official announcement for Ramadan timings in Dubai’s private schools will follow in May.”

Meanwhile, some private schools have already sent out Ramadan timings.

An American school in Al Barsha, through its newsletter, informed its parent community that schools will begin at 8.30am and end at 1.30pm for all school students.

Another British school in Al Twar announced that they will start an hour late, and end an hour earlier, thus reducing school timing by two hours.

Some schools, in fact, will end their school year before Ramadan.

The first day of Ramadan will be announced based on moon sighting.
