Ras al-Khaimah and Dibba will soon be on the 'Makani' geographical addressing system of the Dubai Municipality.

Agreements to this effect were signed on Monday with respective municipalities during the GITEX Tech Week at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Hussain Nasser Lootah, Director-General of Dubai Municipality signed two separate agreements with Munther Mohammed Al Zaabi, Director-General of Ras al-Khaimah Municipality and Hassan Salem Yamahi, Director-General of Dibba Al Fujairah Municipality. Ajman, Umm Al Qaiwain and Fujairah municipalities had signed similar agreements recently.

As per the agreement, Dubai Municipality will provide Ras al-Khaimah and Dibba Al Fujairah municipalities all the means necessary to implement the Makani system within their geographical jurisdictions.

The Dubai Municipality will also provide the necessary training and technical consultation regarding the Makani App for those involved in the two municipalities, who on their part, will provide the Dubai Municipality the updated spatial data of landmarks within their geographical jurisdictions to be used within the Makani application system.

As per the agreement, both sides will nominate co-ordinators in order to implement the terms of the agreement and also to resolve any obstacles that may arise during the implementation of the project.

The agreement shows the municipality's willingness to extend bridges of knowledge and co-operation with government agencies in the country in all areas of common interest, Lootah said.
