Rat Alert: The Springs residents spot rodents in the area

Some of the villa dwellers in Emaar’s, The Springs, have seen rodents in and around their houses, raising concern that this problem could aggravate further.

A resident of Springs 11 told Emirates 24|7 that she has spotted a rodent on a tree in her garden. “It’s been there for some days now. We keep our windows and doors closed at all times so that it can’t come inside the house,” she said.

Residents of Springs 9 tell a similar tale. “I saw a rodent ran past my front door as I opened it and disappeared in the garden. It’s scary, we don’t want rodents in the house,” an Indian resident of the community said.

Another resident living in the same area has called for pest control service in her villa. “I find it so creepy. I called my maintenance company but they told me that the pest control done for rodents is different from the one done for ants and cockroaches and may not be safe if the kids are inside the house. In this case, it needs to be done in the house, parking and the garden area, so we have put it on hold. The easier way is to let the cats out,” she told this website.

An Emaar executive working in the maintenance department for common areas said that they have received no such complaints.

“Emaar maintains the common areas at all times and pest control is done at regular intervals,” said the executive, assuring that the concerned department will visit the areas mentioned to check and address the problem.

A customer, who had complained to Emaar, appreciated the prompt action taken by the developer. “I told them about the problem and the next day the pest control men came to check my garden and the area around my house. They said some types of trees, plants and vegetation attract mice and that they have trapped nearly 30 rats from various Springs,” a resident told this website.

Rat problems have been reported in areas like Jumeriah Lake Towers, Jumeirah Beach Residence (JBR) and Jumeriah Village Circle among others. In fact, JBR has rat traps all along the bottom of the buildings to deal with the rodent menace.

Mice can have babies every month and up to 18 at a time. Even the babies can have kids soon they mature fast and can start at 6 weeks.
