An Egyptian sales executive is accused of attempting to molest a Filipina receptionist in the lift of a building, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

In her testimony, the victim, JE, 21, says on the day of the incident she had left her house keys in her office and so asked the building security guard to let her into her flat with the use of a master key.

“After getting it, I pressed the lift button. The doors of the two lifts opened and I entered the one nearest to me and there were a man inside the lift.

“I noticed that the lift was going down, so I immediately got out of the lift and entered the second one. The accused rushed behind me and got into the lift. When I asked him which floor he wanted to go to, he did not reply.

“I pressed on the button of the 12th floor where I stay. When the lift reached the ninth floor, the accused pulled me hand and pulled me towards him trying to kiss me.

“I pushed him away and started shouting and screaming, I instantly pressed the lift to the seventh floor.

“As the lift’s door opened, the accused rushed out.

I screamed and shouted so people who were in the corridor held him until the police arrived.”
An Indian neighbour on the seventh floor saw the victim getting into the lift while he was getting into his flat.

“A few minutes after entering my flat, I heard screams so I opened the door and saw the accused getting out of the lift and the victim was scared and crying and told me what happened. So we called the police,” testified ER, 20.

Police arrested the accused, MAM, for an attemot to molest.
The court will reconvene on October 10.
