Revealed: By how much your UAE salary may go up next year

As we enter into the second half of the year, consultancies and employees have started evaluating their prospects about a pay-hike in 2015.

The latest one comes from Aon Hewitt, a company into talent, retirement and health solutions.

A report published today maintains employers in the UAE are gearing up to deliver an average salary increase of 4.8 per cent to their employees in 2015.

The figure is slightly down from forecasts made in 2014 and 2013, which was 5.1 and 5 per cent, respectively, indicating that companies across the UAE are going to be slightly more conservative with their budgets next year.

However, employees in the UAE were given an average salary increase of 4.6 per cent in 2014, below the original projection of 5 per cent. If employers stick to the 4.8 per cent budgeted hike for 2015, then UAE employees will in fact getter better pay-hikes than what they received this year.

Across the GCC, companies are predicting an average salary increase of 5.1 per cent for 2015. Among the participating GCC organisations, Oman and Saudi Arabia-based companies are planning to give the highest salary increase for 2015, at 5.4 per cent each; a slight decrease from the 2014 predictions.

Bahrain has the lowest salary increase projection at 4.5 per cent, followed by Qatar at 5.2 per cent and Kuwait at 5.3 per cent.

Many employees too expect their incomes to go up in the coming year in the UAE. However, rents seem to have stablised over the past few months after a sharp spike in 2013.
