Emirates Living, Arabian Ranches and Palm Jumeirah are some of the most sought-after locations in the city

Dubai is considered a safe and secure city for children but there are some areas in the city which are considered better to raise a family when factors such as the quality of schools in the area, the available amenities such as child day-care centers, recreation centers, green space, hospitals, shopping areas, parks, restaurants and safety are taken into account. Emirates 24|7 spoke with experts at Asteco and Landmark properties to list the best localities in the city to raise children.

Emirates Living is perhaps one of the most desired places to live-in for expat families in Dubai. With ease of access to Sheikh Zayed road, community shopping, schools and parks, this location is a much sought after area in the city. The smaller communities within the community are gated and secure with personnel.

With ample open spaces for children, this area has many good schools like Dubai International Academy, Emirates International School and Dubai British School to be considered. For families with younger children, there are many nurseries to choose from – Raffles, Jebel Ali nursery at Haya club etc. The American University in Dubai is also close by. Children's playgrounds and communal swimming pools are an added advantage. The area has many lakes and dogs are allowed.

Emirates Living residents have access to the Emirates Hills' Montgomerie Golf Course and its state-of-the-art Golf Academy. Residents of Emirates Hills also have access to the Montgomerie's clubhouse and all of its facilities.

With nearby convenience stores and shopping areas, big shopping malls like The Mall of the Emirates and Ibn Battuta are also in proximity.

The area has small clinics and a new Saudi German hospital close to The Greens is nearing completion.

Arabian Ranches, developed by Emaar is another community that offers lifestyle suited to families. For leisure and entertainment at Arabian Ranches, the village community center houses 20 retail outlets including supermarket, cafes and restaurants. Located within the Arabian Ranches is Jumeirah English Speaking School, one of the premier schools in Dubai and the popular Raffles Nursery.

The Springs Lakes and Meadows are ALL at higher end of the Dubai income scale. Yes you can have a 2 bed villa in this area for 80k, but the 3 and 4 bed townhouses are quite simply out of the reach financially of most people in this city.

I believe this list is for Villas only. If you talk about 'Apartments'.... then Dark horses like The Executive Towers on SZR are probably the best located community in Dubai. Close to everything and accessible, you name it.

It depends how much you earn. If you are earning AED15k, then you can't spend AED6K to 7K on rent and then spend another AED2K for your kids education. I disagree... Karama is a good place. You missed it.

Mirdiff is one of the best areas to raise a family ... Parks, Walking, close to all amenities !

Given the recent spate of kids falling from higher floors and dying the low rises in the Greens are excellent for families with children. And other amenities too.

I agree with @Surprised. Less than 6,000 to provide your kids with the best growing cnditions isn't asking for too much, considering that one would be paying the same if not more if you were living in, say, Marina or even JLT!

@Vishan @Kavita: 'Rich' people in Springs and Greens? Then most of Dubai is 'rich' and perhaps only people in International City and old pockets of Deira are poor! C'mon guys, a villa in springs is available for rent for 70K a year -- am sure the not-so-rich can afford that too!

I totally agree with Kavita as these areas are guaranteed for high end salaried occupants.

Kavita - i think this depends on your definition of rich. I would say its mainly the middle class that occupy villas in the springs, greens, etc
  • Ali 2 February 2012 09:43 0 0
I do believe that areas like Greens, and Business Bay are good areas too.
  • Kavita 2 February 2012 08:19 0 0
These areas are only for rich people. Where do the middle class go?
