Lane violations and overtaking from the hard shoulder have emerged as the most common traffic violations caught by the Abu Dhabi Traffic Police in August and September.

The traffic police’s various cameras and radars across the emirate have registered 2,494 traffic violations during these two months.

Captain Abdullah Al Qubaisi, Director, Traffic Control, Directorate of Traffic and Patrols, Abu Dhabi Police, said that apart from lane indiscipline and overtaking hazards, illegal parking was also a major issue.

Captain Al Qubaisi has called on motorists for the need to adhere to the laws to reduce the number of injuries and deaths caused by road accidents.

He reiterated that traffic patrols have been intensified on inner and outer roads, urging motorists to adhere to traffic laws and the designated speed limits to ensure their safety. This comes in line with the overall strategy to make roads in Abu Dhabi safer and upgrade safety levels, out of the abiding faith that "road safety is everyone's responsibility".

"The Traffic and Patrols Directorate at Abu Dhabi Police seeks no financial gains by issuing traffic violations.

"This measure aims solely to ensure people’s safety and to maintain public property, as evidence has shown that most traffic accidents occur as a result of a traffic violation," he added.
