The RTA Licensing Agency and Nokia have joined forces to highlight the dangers of driving while talking on a mobile phone, without a hands-free kit.

The organisations will provide a 12-month marketing campaign across more than 100 outlets in Dubai.

Dubai Police are supporting the on-ground effort and Nokia is helping to provide the tools and technology that, combined, will help to realise this mutual goal. This collaboration sets an example of how regulatory figures and service providers can work hand in hand to accomplish results for the greater good of our communities.

Ahmed Bahrozyan, CEO, Licensing Agency,  CEO said: "Not using a hands-free mobile phone kit while driving is dangerous. If drivers need to use a phone while driving it must be used with a hands-free phone kit. Police will issue a Dh200 fine and four black points to anyone caught using a phone while driving without a hands-free kit".

“Utilising these tools, Dubai drivers are able to follow the international best practice of road safety by avoiding unnecessary driving distractions. Anything we can do to assist such a cause is in all of our best interests and we are proud to support such an activity," said Chris Braam, Vice-President, Sales, Nokia Middle East and Africa.

Nokia also offers free voice navigation in 75 countries and 48 languages, which will allow Dubai drivers to get to their destination simply by listening to navigation guidance without the need to look at the screen of their devices or be distracted by the need to search street signs.

Staying focused and in control of your vehicle is the first and easiest step towards a safe driving environment and Nokia is committed to helping drivers do so through its best in class products and services.
