RTA opens new International City bus route

The Public Transport Agency, Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has revealed that its Planning and Business Development Department will launch as of Friday, April 1, a new Shuttle Bus Route to operate within the International City and make some modifications to other existing routes.

According to the Director of Planning and Business Development Mohammed Abu Baker Al Hashimi, the new Shuttle Bus Route (300), would provide a shuttle service within the limits of the International City to serve all the neighbourhood.

Al Hashimi explained: “As of that date, the agency will also modify Route (X23) and (53), which start off Gold Souk Station and bound to the International City such that the first journey will continue to be run from the morning up to 10am, and the second journey will continue to be run from 5pm to 8pm. Buses deployed on these two routes will enter the International City during other times via Hatta. In the return journey from the Gold Souk Station, buses will directly travel through Al Manama Road, and the two routes will link up with the new route (300).”

Route (11A) will start off the Gold Souk Station to Al Rashidiya Metro Station with a 20 minutes interval (headway), and from Gold Souk Station to Al Awir with a 60 minutes interval. The path of Route (88) from Nakheel Metro Station up to Deira City Center will be modified to pass through the Dubai Internet City and Nakheel Metro Station. The path of the metro station feeder service Route (F46) will start off Dubai Media City to Ibn Battuta Metro Station from 7am to 9am, and also from 5pm to 7pm throughout the weekdays, and the Route will continue to access the Dubai Lagoons.

“RTA is keen on broadening the reach of its public transport network to cater to the existing demand for public bus service in Dubai Emirate. Public buses and the bus feeder service of the metro stations are RTA strategic initiatives and key instruments of raising the percentage of trips made through public transport network by enticing various segments of the community to use the mass transit means in their daily travels. This will further diffuse the culture of using public transport means among the community, and render these means the best choice of mobility in Dubai,” said Al Hashimi.
