An Eid traffic management has been put together by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in preparation of the anticipated large number of visitors to certain areas, especially Buj Khalifa area.

In this area more than 20 directional signs will be installed to direct the traffic to the internal roads network of the Business Bay district and provide access to the Sheikh Zayed Road and Al Khail Road; which will accordingly ease the pressure on the Financial Center Road, explained Hussain Al Banna, Director of Traffic at the RTA and Head of the Traffic Movement and the Handling of Operational Plans during Annual Events Team.

Temporary signs will be installed to direct road users to Zabeel bridges to access the Burj Khalifa area from Sheikh Rashid Road.

To ensure a smooth traffic flow during various peak hours, the light signals on the Financial Center Road will be monitored and controlled to ensure the highest smooth traffic flow possible.

In anticipating of a high demand of taxis in the area, 10 public buses have been dedicated to provide free rides between Dubai Mall and the World Trade Center, said Adel Mohammed Shakri, Director of Transportation Systems at the RTA.

The bus services will start operating from 1 pm every day during the period of Eid.

Furthermore, an area has been designated as stop for tourist buses along the extension of the Financial Center Road and the public will be directed to this area.

Meanwhile, all limousine firms and franchise taxi forms have been permitted to lift passengers from the Dubai Mall, which is considered the most populous and famous tourist destination.

The Booking and Dispatch Center will be fully ready and operating around-the-clock as usual. Certain locations where external events are held will receive additional support.

While roads and transportation modes are gearing up to lift the highest number of passengers, the ecstatic look of the emirate is taking care of too.

“A programme is currently underway for preventive maintenance and cleaning of the surroundings of Eid prayers and mosques as well as bridges and tunnels,” explained Nazim Faisal, Director of Roads Maintenance at the RTA.

“Particular attention is given to washing of main tunnels and metal rail of bridges, removing dust and solid deposits on pavements, especially at bridges, washing pedestrian bridges, and cleaning directional signage at main roads of the Emirate.

“A technical team comprising engineers and inspectors of has surveyed areas around Eid prayers to take necessary corrective measures required for making any emergency repairs during the end of the holy month of Ramadan and the holiday of Eid al-Fitr.”
