RTA takes steps to sensitize drivers about road shoulder

The Traffic and Roads Agency, Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has recently held a awareness event aimed at sensitizing motorists about safety & security relating to road shoulder.

Hussain Al Banna, Director of Traffic, Traffic and Roads Agency, said: “We are keen on educating drivers about different aspects & issues relating to road shoulder in order to ensure wide publicity for the campaign.

Awareness leaflets targeting road users have been prepared entitled: Safety Tips about Road Shoulder giving elaborate details about what drivers should do or don’t do for their own safety, in addition to answers to the most frequently asked questions amongst drivers in this regard.”

“These flyers have been distributed in order to reach out to the largest possible number of targeted audience by this event, and the campaign was therefore present in key roads of the Emirate such as the Sheikh Zayed Road, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, and Al Khail Road in addition to the Fruits & Vegetable Market at Ras Al Khor. The campaign was coordinated with the Emirates Driving Institute, Emirates Transport, Al Ghuwaifat Border Post, Dubai International Airport and car rental companies in the Airport.

"Additionally, the Traffic and Roads Agency held a series of lectures at the Dubai Taxi Corporation and the Public Transport Agency,” continued Al Banna.

“The campaign will continue online within the RTA and beyond through social networks in a flexible manner since the use of this media is becoming very popular during this digital era. It will therefore help us deliver this message to the targeted audience and accordingly contribute to realizing RTA’s vision of Safe and Smooth Transport for All,” said the Director of Traffic, Traffic and Roads Agency in a final remark.
