Dubai’s RTA will adopt a new electronic system in the second quarter of this year for recording driving test results to reduce human errors, the Al Roeya newspaper has reported.

This could reduce complaints of bias by driving licence applicants, said Ahmed Bahrouzyan, Chief Executive Officer, RTA Licensing Agency.

Inspectors will be provided with the electronic devices to record the result in real time while taking driving tests. The test data will be sent automatically to the RTA, he added.

RTA has adopted the new system to reduce the chances of human error to zero since the points won by the driver will be calculated electronically, he said.

Meanwhile, Bahrouzyan said the department is monitoring the disparity in driving test success and failures rates of different examiners, different vehicles and different driving test centres in Dubai.

Driving test examiners are academically qualified and hold international certificates. RTA has a special department for training examiners, he added.

Bahrouzyan said the success rate in driving tests have risen from 17 to 35 per cent after the licensing agency entrusted RTA with taking the tests.

About 400 driving licences are issued per day, including new ones and replacements of foreign licences. The figure includes licences for motorcycles.
