Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) will finish linking its centres to the Federal Traffic System by end-February, reported 'Al Bayan; newspaper.

Once the new system is launched, Dubai-registered vehicles can renew registrations from other emirates and vice-versa.

Ahmed Hachim Bahrouzyan, CEO of Licensing Department, said by end of this month, all systems will be elctronically linked to the Federal System. This was required to enhance services to motorists, he added.

Services that can be availed from intra-emirates include payment of fines; renewal and replacement of driving licences; ownership transfers; issuance of damage certificates; change in colour and number plates; export certificates of various types, etc.

Bahrouzyan said RTA in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior and General Headquarters of Dubai Police, has begun streamlining issuance of vehicle licences at the state levels.

Mohammed Abdul Karim Ne’amat, Director of vehicle licensing at Licensing department, said the project aims to consolidate data between the two systems and make them readily accessible to clients, as well as to reduce errors when entering important data such as registration, issuance and renewal of licences.
