Sacked worker gets Dh239k from employer: Court

A UAE court ordered a company which sacked its worker to pay him Dh239,000 end-of-service benefits plus air tickets for his family and shipping fees for his furniture.

The worker had demanded Dh750,000 compensation for what he described as 'arbitrary' sacking by his employers after working for the firm during 2007-2013.

But a court granted him Dh212,500 before a court of appeals increased the compensation to Dh239,000 including arrears and interest on payment.

The worker then appealed again with the court of cassation which upheld the latest sentence. He also tried to appeal with the Federal Supreme Court which rejected his request and ordered the employers to pay him Dh239,000 plus the other fees.
