Rain in Al Ain; Dubai, Abu Dhabi next? [video]

Al Ain experienced heavy rain on Monday, with thunderstorms accompanied by varying intensities of dust and wind blowing, ‘Al Ittihad’ newspaper reports.

Rainfall was reported from Al Ain city, Umm Ghafah, Al Sarog, Al Dhaher  and Saa’a, in addition to Khatam Al Shukla and Malaget.


Also moderate rain fell in Mazyad area, Al Faouaha, Al Jaimi and Jebel Hafeet.

Temperatures dropped significantly in these areas, but the National Center of Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS) has forecast that temperatures will continue to remain high in the rest of the UAE, including Dubai and Abu Dhabi, though no rain is forecast here for now.

The Wednesday weather also includes a cloudy forecast. Rain is expected to continue with wind speed being strong enough to kick up sand and dust.

Fujairah gets wet

Rains lashed different areas of the UAE on Sunday, for a third consecutive day, Arabic newspapers reported. According to reports, rains ranged from moderate to heavy in Fujairah, Ras Al Khaimah and Sharjah.

Rains flooded the valleys of Mai, Marabadh and Al Agile, as well as moderate rainfall was experienced in the city areas of Fujairah, most notably Maraishad and Marbadh.

Reports from the Masafi area claimed the rains with hailstones, while on the road to Masafi, Fujairah, as usual heavy rains lashed the area of Al Juma market with heavy Thunder heard the intermittent, yesterday afternoon.

The National Centre for Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS) has warned motorists to be cautious on the roads, reduce speed, and leave enough distance due to strong winds blowing across the UAE today, which could lead to low levels of visibility.

The National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology has forecast cumulus clouds, accompanied by rain and active winds raising dust and sand.

Wadi Al Ajili, south of Ras Al Khaimah, witnessed heavy rains for a second day. This saw valleys in the region flooded. 

The rainfall has led to an increase in the number of visitors to the southern areas in Ras Al Khaimah.

Salem Al Qaydi of the Shawkah area told ‘Al Bayan’ that the rainfall will decrease temperatures and help ranchers.

Ali Musapah from Wadi Al Manaie stressed that owners of the farms where will see an increase in crops as well.

Rain in Sharjah

Intermittent medium to heavy rains this evening lashed a number of areas in the emirates of Sharjah, Fujairah and Ras Al Khaimah.

The rains were accompanied by thunder and lightning.

The National Centre for Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS) has urged motorists to exercise caution, reduce speed and leave enough space among vehicles due to a sandstorm that could cause poor visibility over the next three days.

It referred in a statement issued today to the forming of cumulus cloud accompanied by some rain and wind that will stir dust, leading to low visibility in some eastern, western and southern regions, and added that the sea waves will be light to moderate, while the Sea of Oman will be sometimes turbulent.

Friday drizzle

Residents of Dubai woke up to a pleasant Friday morning, with many enjoying the drizzles.

The National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology in its forecast says the skies will be partly cloudy to cloudy at times over some areas.

The cloud cover will increase by afternoon over some areas especially the eastern and the southern parts and may associate with some rainfall, added NCMS forecast.

A Sharjah resident told 'Emirates24|7', the drizzles lasted at least half-an-hour in the morning.

Meanwhile, Mercury shows no respite with the maximum temperatures in internal areas hovering between 43 and 48 degree Celsius.
 
However, humidity has reduced with a maximum of 80 per cent in internal areas.
 
Visibility may be affected with moderate winds freshening at times causing blowing dust, says NCMS.
 
Sea is slight to moderate in the Arabian Gulf and moderate to rough at times with clouds activity in the Oman Sea.
