Saturday's rain lowers mercury across UAE

With temperatures in the UAE now touching 40 degrees Celsius and summer beginning to make its presence felt, a wave of rain swept the Western Region of the country on Saturday, offering some respite.

The National Center for Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS) has also forecast a chance of rain in some areas across the UAE today, which should offer some hope of a cooler day to residents.

According to the NCMS website, the weather today will be partly cloudy to hazy in general with the clouds increasing over some areas, with a chance of rain.

Fresh winds are also forecast to be blowing over the sea dust/sand to kick up over open areas..

All this is forecast to cause temperatures to decrease over most areas, but the seas could be rough and humidity will increase by night and Monday morning.

Meanwhile, Delma Island in the Western Region witnessed heaviest rain, accompanied by strong winds, lightning and thunder, on Saturday.
