Abu Dhabi Police has urged motorists in the emirate's roads and highways to drive with extreme care during early morning hours due to dense fog and low visibility.

Colonel Hussain Ahmed Al Harthy, Director of Traffic And Patrol Department, called on motorists, particularly drivers of school buses, to travel in low speed and to watch for adverse weather conditions, said Wam.

He said last year saw 31 traffic accidents caused by fog, in which three people died and five injured.

Meanwhile, police have asked schools to delay early classes in the morning from October because of foggy and dusty weather conditions.

Media reports stated that the Abu Dhabi Police want to prevent road accidents involving school buses.

The UAE experiences foggy and dusty weather conditions from October to December. When the school bus drivers rush to reach the school on time for the first class early in the morning, that may cause accidents, said Colonel Engineer Hussain Ahmad Al Harithi, Director of Traffic and Patrols at the Abu Dhabi Police.

Col Al Harithi also requested the bus drivers transporting workers to avoid speeding during foggy conditions. "Many such buses have caused accidents in bad weather."
