Schools ready to take any extra students: Adec

Dr Mugheer Khamis Al Khaili, Director General of Adec stressed that the Abu Dhabi schools are well prepared to accommodate any additional numbers of students resulting from population increase and the settlement of new families in some areas and thus, fit to face the remarkable increase in the number of students to join kindergartens and absorb all applicants.

Al Khaili was speaking during an inspection tour yesterday to Al Ola and Yas KGs, in Al Rahba and Al Shamkha areas.

He said that the 21 new schools were developed and others refurbished this year to meet the New School Model Standards, which include large spaces and great potential to accommodate all applicants.

Accompanied by Mohamed Salem Al Dhahiri, Executive Director of School Operations, Dr Al Khaili stated that the Council has increased the classroom capacity from 20 to 23 students as well as the number of classes in each KG from 12 to 16 so as to increase the number of children in each KG by 140 children, becoming 360 instead of 240.

He emphasised the determination of the Council, with the support of the UAE wise leadership, to provide the finest educational opportunities for the students across all Regions of the Emirate and use all available facilities to accommodate every additional student.

Al Khaili pointed out that all schools and KGs classes are experiencing gradual steadiness and stability each day since the start of the school year last week. Students are regularly joining their classes in all areas of the Emirate as usual.

He added that the new schools received by ADEC last week include 3 facilities in Al Dhaher and Um Gafa, Al Khaleef KG in Al Ain, 3 KGs in Abu Dhabi (Al Mushrif, Al Ola, Yas and other KGs in other Regions). All those facilities are enabled to increase their capacities to host all applicant students.

The refurbished schools also resumed their operations, these schools are: Assadara, Um Al Fadhl, Al Heer, Al Refa'a, Arrisala and Al Foqa'a, Al Qo'ah, Al Wajan, Mezyed, Um Ghafa, Al Hosoon and Mezyed for girls, all under Al Ain Regional Office. In the Western Region: Beda'a Al Mutawaa, Sila'a and Marfa schools.

He pointed out that these schools have superb designs, large areas, modern educational media, special rooms for the special education needs and other facilities such as the green areas, playgrounds, theaters, swimming pools, school clinics, etc. This has made the school a center for learning, cultural and social activity for all family members to enjoy all year around, contributing to the cultural renaissance of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and the UAE in general, under the prudent leadership of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the unconditional support of Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, Chairman of ADEC.

Al Khaili met with the administrators of the two KGs and listened to their remarks about the requirements of additional female teachers and visited the classrooms and toured both facilities.

Mohamed Salem Al Dhahiri said that the Council is keen to quickly address any additional or emergency requirements to promote the stability of the educational sector from the beginning of the school year. He reiterated that there has been a quick progress in terms of classroom stability and called on school administrators not to delay communication with the Council to have their requirements provided for.
