'Severe' crash cleared on Dubai's Mohammed bin Zayed Road

A ‘severe’ accident has been reported on Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road on Monday morning, heading in the direction of Jebel Ali.

It has now been cleared.

The accident was reported around 7.30am, with Dubai Police also confirming the incident via its official Twitter handle.

The authority tweeted: “A severe accident on SMBZ Road after Motor City towards Abu Dhabi. Traffic congestion reported.”

According to eyewitness accounts, the traffic gridlock commences nearly 5kms or more before Greens Community Roundabout on 311, near Jumeirah Village Triangle.

Commuters are being advised to find alternatives.

Meanwhile, the National Centre for Meteorology and Seismology is warning morning drivers of severe fog and low visibility in parts of Abu Dhabi and Dubai, specifically on the highway to the capital, parts of Liwa, Al Rowais and Baniyas.

Drivers are being warned to proceed with caution.
