Residents in Dubai are asked to share ideas that will help improve the health sector by the Dubai Health Authority (DHA).

In an ongoing social media brainstorming session, ideas can be tweeted using the hashtag #DHAFuture.

This week a large number of ideas was already received about various health-related topics including the introduction of smart apps for patients, focussed preventive strategies to tackle lifestyle-diseases such as diabetes, home care services for the elderly, and the need to introduce unified online medical records.

The aim of the initiative is to draft a patient-centric health strategy for the coming six years, as it will eventually result in the Dubai Health Strategy 2015-2021.

This is the third phase of the stakeholder engagement initiative. In the first phase, DHA employees provided their ideas and suggested initiatives via on online forum, while phase two included the consultation of 90 members of the public and private health sector.

“The idea behind this extensive stakeholder engagement is to prepare a strategy that fulfils the needs of all stakeholders- the public, medical professionals, healthcare facilities, investors etc.

“Seeking feedback and suggestions from the public is an essential part of this initiative because ultimately we serve the healthcare needs of our population and this initiative aims to understand their viewpoints so that we can formulate patient-centric solutions on the basis of which the policies could be drafted,” said Humaid Al Qatami, Chairman of the Board of the DHA.

Ideas can be posted on the official Twitter page of the DHA (DHA_Dubai) in the upcoming months.
