Arrest three for trying to sell jewellery stolen by maid from employers

The Criminal Investigation Department of Sharjah Police have arrested three for trying to sell gold and jewellery that was stolen to stores in the emirate.

The accused have been identified as AAV and KN, of Cameroonian nationality, and BEP of Ethiopian nationality.

The CID received a call from a store in Sharjah that two Africans were trying to sell gold and jewellery without a receipt.

The CID immediately went to the store and detained the men.

After the questioning, the men led the police to an apartment in Al Nahda, where a woman of Ethiopian nationality was found.

Further investigation revealed that the woman as a maid who was absconding after robbing her employers.

The gold and jewellery that the men were trying to sell was what she had robbed.

Based on the confessions, the accused have been referred to the public prosecutor in the emirate of Sharjah.

Colonel Jihad Saeed, Director of CID of Sharjah Police has warned families not to hire maids who do not have a legal sponsor.
