Sharjah crime file: Drug bust in residential area

The Sharjah Police have arrested a Pakistani national in possession of a large quantity of narcotics, including 36,500 psychotropic tablets.

The drugs were ready for distribution and the accused had hidden the large stash in various concealed places in his apartment in a residential area in the emirate.
Acting on a tip-off the Sharjah Drug Enforcement Agency raided the suspected apartment and found the drugs.

The accused was transferred to the public prosecution in Sharjah.

In a separate incident, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Sharjah Police have arrested four Bangladeshis on charges of stealing aluminium and copper electrical cables in the emirate.

The police received a tip off that a gang was selling electrical wiring at a very cheap rate.

The police raided the men and found their merchandise to be stolen.
The arrest of the four also led to a fifth suspect of  Pakistani nationality, whose whereabouts are not known.

The four have confessed to the crime and revealed how they targeted construction sites that were deserted and uninhabited .

Sharjah Police have appealed to the owners of companies to guard their property and not to leave it unattended.
