Sharjah fines 83 stores for violating hygiene standards

The Sharjah Municipality fined 83 stores for violating hygiene standards and confiscated about 720 kg of various foodstuffs during a special campaign on groceries and supermarkets last month.

The municipality urged the necessity of healthy environment for the storage and preservation of food in order to preserve the safety of consumers.

The inspectors of Food Control Section of the Department of Health in the municipality visited about 1200 locations during the campaign to inspect all grocery stores and supermarkets.
