His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council member and ruler of Sharjah, on Thursday opened the Sharjah Light Festival 2012 (SFL 2012) at Al-Qasba.
In attendance were also Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, crown prince and deputy ruler of Sharjah, sheiks and senior officials.
The second edition of the Sharjah Light Festival is organized by Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority and will run up to February 17 celebrating the unique brilliance of this magnificent emirate.
The nine-day long festival of light and music will illuminate Sharjah, bringing to life 12 popular landmarks across the city with a breathtaking display of colours, light shows and video installations. Some of the celebrated Sharjah landmarks that will be illuminated and transformed during the SLF extravaganza.
This year, Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority, organizers of the festival, added new locations, such as Al Majaz Waterfront, Golden Mile, Sharjah International Airport and the Courthouse complex next to the Creek, to attract more visitors.
