Sharjah on hunt for hard shoulder offenders

Drivers overtaking other cars in road hard shoulders in Sharjah should think twice before committing such a dangerous offence as the emirate has introduced new systems that can hunt the violators, a senior police officer was quoted on Wednesday as  saying.

“We have introduced new systems in the police cameras on the roads allowing us to monitor those who overtake other cars in hard shoulder areas,” said Colonel Abdullah bin Amer, Director of the central operations, Sharjah Police.

“We have completed the installation of these systems in all police cameras on the emirate’s internal and external roads…they include a special programme which can detect any hard should offence.”

He said the move was intended to ensure the safety of road users as such offences are considered a main cause.
