The Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (SRTA) inaugurated a dual-lane road on Thursday to ease traffic congestion in the emirate.
Arabic daily Emarat Al Youm reported that the 3km road will ease bottleneck situations in Industrial Areas 15 and 17, located next to the National Paints Bridge.
"The dual-lane road was completed within the stipulated time and at the cost of Dh49 million," Engineer Yusuf Saleh Al Suwaihi, Chairman of SRTA was quoted as saying.
He added, "The road runs from the area behind the Sharjah English School and up until Oud Rakk'an Bridge located on Maliha Road."
He pointed out that this road provides safe and quick access to the main road arteries.
Eng Al Suwaihi noted that the road is 7.3 metres wide with a concrete barrier in the middle to separate traffic movement.
