Sharjah orders payment of tuition fees of needy students

His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council member and Ruler of Sharjah has ordered Emiri Court to pay the tuition fees of needy students to Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services.

He added that the Emiri Court has allocated some amounts to handicaps and those who could not afford to pay the tuition fees.

This was disclosed in direct line programme of Sharjah Radio and TV in response to a call from Emirati Abu Omran, whose one of his sons is a handicap. "We are fully responsible about the son of Abu Omran , and wish him recovery and meaningful education", Sheikh Sultan said.

Meanwhile, the Ruler of Sharjah has instructed issuance of 216 additional scholarships to Emiratis in University of Sharjah (UoS) and American University of Sharjah. He also ordered exemption of 214 students from payment of the tuition fees- the tuition fees paid by those students so far would be repaid to them immediately after the graduation.

Dr Amr Abdul Hamid, Advisor to Ruler of Sharjah for the Higher Education Affairs told the direct link programme that Sheikh Sultan has ordered cessation of mixing in lecture halls in UoS. He also deferred new conditions for scholarships of children of the administrative and teaching staff of UoS to next semester.
