Motorists with Dubai number plates who have accumulated illegal parking fines at pre-paid public spaces in Sharjah may get a waiver, according to a top Municipality official.
Sultan Abdullah Al Mualla, Director-General, Sharjah Municipality, said some people have fines accumulated over the past three years and added that the municipality is planning to offer a discount in fines gathered.
However, only vehicles with Dubai number plates would be eligible for the offer as the unified traffic system was not adequately linked, he said.
Ideally, an offending motorist should settle fines at the time of renewing driving licence. However, because the RTA system has not been linked in entirety, some motorists found it difficult to make payments, ending up accumulating fines.
