Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, won the first place in Fazza Championship for Falconry - Live Prey, with his falcon called Ghaith, and then surprised other participants with an unexpected move.

The Crown Prince directed to bestow the first prize which he had won to the runner-up, Falcon B6, as a token of appreciation for the participants and to encourage them to work hard.

Organised by the Hamdan bin Mohammed Heritage Centre, the 11-day event witnessed strong contention among participants, hailing from all Gulf Co-operation Council (GCC) member states.

Giving up the prize is a good start to the Year of Giving and reflects Sheikh Hamdan’s long-standing support for traditional sports and the championship, said Abdullah Hamdan bin Dalmook, CEO of Hamdan bin Mohammed Heritage Centre, organiser of the championship.

Dubai Crown Prince’s participation in the championship fuelled competition, he added.
