Six killed, 177 injured on Dubai roads in January

Half of the dead were Emiratis, two Indians and one Sri Lankans

Road accidents killed six people in Dubai in January and half of them were Emiratis although they do not exceed 20 per cent of the population. The rest included two Indians and one Sri Lankans.

Police statistics showed 177 people were also injured in the 219 mishaps in the emirate, which has been locked in a drive to end bloodshed on roads.

The figures showed that over the past three days, 13 people were hurt in road crashes, including a little girl. Some of the accidents were a result of the unsettled weather and sandstorms that lashed the country.
