Jewellers and gold retailers in Dubai are continuing to enjoy robust sales. If attractive offers during the Dubai Shopping Festival lured customers last month, then the romantic season has taken it forward. With Valentine's Day just around the corner, jewellers in Dubai have updated their collections to meet varied needs of the cross-section of residents.

From special Valentine's pendants and rings to necklaces and bracelets all set with diamonds and precious stones in yellow as well as white gold, lovers are, indeed, spoilt for choice this season.

'Emirates24|7' spoke to numerous jewellers in Dubai and discovered that if there is a difference in the collections they exhibit, then increased sales is the common factor amid them.

Leading jewellery chains such as Damas, Pure Gold, Joy Alukkas, Malabar Gold, Sky Jewellery and a scores of others are cashing in on the forthcoming Valentine's Day.

Among the popular pieces is a special edition of diamond pendants that are pink in colour weighing 18 to 21 carat and held with yellow and white chains. The price starts at Dh600 and goes up to thousands of dirhams depending on the quality of the rock in use.

Sham Lal, Managing Director, Malabar Gold, said: "People love to shower their loved ones with gifts on Valentines Day and it is not easy to select that perfect one. We have introduced special pieces for the season of love - a heart-shaped pendant studded with 40 exquisite diamonds that seem to float. Available in both gold and white they are priced at  Dh999. We are giving away a complementary watch with the purchase of this pendant. Diamonds are women's favourite."

Sky Jewellery has also introduced Valentine's Diamond Classic products such as 'heart of gold' and 'petals of rose', etc., and is giving away handbags as gifts to all those who purchase a diamond pendant for Dh1,500.

Joy Alukkas has 'Be Mine' and 'Masaaki' collections to help lovers celebrate. “Valentine’s Day is a big occasion. We have exclusively designed pendants under 'BeMine Diamond' and 'Masaaki Pearl jewellery' brands. 'BeMine' pendants are crafted in yellow, white and rose gold studded with exquisite diamonds and Masaaki are beautiful pearl creations with diamonds," said John Paul Joy Alukkas, Executive Director, Joyalukkas Group.

The BeMine collection includes three creations - Queen of hearts, which features a delicate crown top with a diamond-studded heart, priced at Dh999; the Romantic Trio pendant, comprising three filigreed hearts in white, yellow and rose gold and studded with diamonds and topped with a crown of white diamonds on a butterfly motif necklace, priced at Dh2,999; and Twin hearts pendant, a delicate creation featuring two complementary stylized hearts in white and yellow gold, around two sparkling diamonds, priced at Dh1,299.
