Strong winds, hazy weather and rough seas will continue to impact the daily life of residents and tourists in the UAE this week, according to the National Centre for Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS).

The UAE will continue to witness hazy weather conditions for the next few days, with wind speeds going up to 65km per hour today, the NCMS said in its weather forecast.

Temperatures have seen a steady decline over the past few days, with mercury expected to dip to 8°C in some areas of the country. The weather forecast for the day reads: “Hazy weather in general, partly cloudy over some northern and eastern areas at times.”

Northwesterly winds may reach 65km per hour at times in the country’s mountainous regions while coastal areas could witness winds of up to 60km per hour and internal regions may see up to 50km per hour according to the NCMS weather forecast.

A weather warning for today suggesting “fresh winds” and “dust in suspension” has been issued by the NCMS, which will lead to “poor visibility and rough sea”.

Motorists are being advised to maintain caution as visibility is expected to drop during morning and evening, while the hazy weather is expected to last at least until the weekend. “Moderate to fresh winds in general, especially over the sea, may cause some blowing dust / haze and reduce the horizontal visibility over some areas,” the NCMS forecast reads.

Beachgoers and fishermen are also being advised on the adverse weather conditions, with the NCMS forecast predicting rough seas.

Minimum temperatures of 8°C in the country’s mountainous areas, 9°C in internal areas and 15°C in coastal regions is forecasted for today while maximum temperatures could shoot up to 26°C in internal areas, 24°C in coastal areas and 20°C in the country’s mountainous regions.

Many schools and colleges in Saudi Arabia and Oman were closed yesterday due to bad weather, while a sandstorm disrupted air traffic in Yemen.
