Sugar deal turns sour for businessman

An Indian offering a sugar deal enticed a businessman on to the street, where three others were waiting. They claimed to be CID staff, stole his money and left him locked in a car, the Dubai Criminal Court heard on Sunday.

Of the three, one is still at large.

On May 4, SHD, 22, Indian, salesman, has asked MK, 35, businessman, that someone called Sameer wanted to conclude a sugar deal with him.

SHD called Sameer and set up an appointment between the two at the parking lot of Al Bustan Centre in Al Qusais area.

On the specified day and time the businessman and Sameer arrived and later came SHD. While they were negotiating the deal, a white Mercedes stopped behind the businessman’s car.

Three men got out and asked the businessman to sit in the back seat of his car claiming they were CID staff. They asked both Sameer and SHD to go.
The businessman obeyed and sat in the back seat.

 The two searched him and took a his BlackBerry, and Sony Ericson mobiles in addition to  his wallet which contained Dh32,000, some dollars, credit cards and driving licence.

They locked the car and told him that police will soon come.

Police later arrested SHD and MAM 21, bedouin, jobless, and FYK, 25, Pakistani, student and referred them to the prosecution.
