‘Suicide’ victim’s body lies on pathway for hours

The man apparently jumped to his death in Jumeirah Beach Residence

A man fell to his death from a footbridge in Jumeirah Beach Residence on Thursday morning.

Police are investigating the incident, which they suspect was a suicide, reported The National.

Witnesses said the body of the man, a young Indian with a European passport, lay uncovered on the pathway of The Walk for some hours before being removed in an ambulance.

Regan McKean, 34, an advertising executive, was on her way to a fitness class just before 6am when she saw the body lying under a footbridge that leads to the Movenpick Hotel.

She said a security guard at the hotel said the body had been there since around 4am.

The body was being taken away on a stretcher when McKean returned to her flat just after 7am.

Adel Naeem of the Movenpick marketing department declined to provide details. “It didn’t occur on the grounds of the hotel, but was nearby,” he said.

The footbridge leads from the hotel to the beach side of The Walk, where it is accessible to the public. It is about eight metres high.

This man was a 16-year-old boy and he was a friend on mine. It was not a suicide. He fell. He didn't jump.

If this is who I think it is, a former classmate of mine, I would like to say that he was not a man but a 16-year-old boy! He was liked by everyone and had lots of friends! RIP Aiman.
