A chill is in the air as the cold wave continues to spread its icy tentacles across the Gulf, with the UAE and Oman feeling the wintry weather as temperatures drop to two degrees Celsius here.

Meanwhile, earlier this week, Oman temperatures hit below freezing, with the cold snap dipping the mercury to -7 degrees Celsius, as reported in the Times of Oman.

The UAE weather will continue to blow in a breath of chill air with Jebel Jais, Ras Al Khaimah recording 2.6 degrees Celsius Thursday, with the temperatures expected to maintain the nip into the weekend.

Those camping or planning outdoor adventures in Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah mountain-range may want to pack that sweater along, with the maximum temperature expected to shoot up to only 6 degrees Celsius.

The UAE’s National Centre for Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS) has stated that, with the weather in the mountains ranging between 3-8 degrees, while the internal areas could hit highs of 24 degrees.

Early morning drivers may take note, that mist and fog could reduce visibility in the early hours,  ‘especially over the internal and western areas’, according to the NCMS.

The weather pattern is expected to continue into Saturday, with the sea expected to be moderate.

The cold weather has swept through the Gulf since last week’s rains, with Jebel Shams, the highest point in Oman, recording temperatures of -7 degrees on Tuesday.
