The UAE tremor count in past one year - four and rising

The following tremors were all recorded by the UAE’s National Seismic Network and reported by the network itself and/or by Wam

Al Madam

2010

Tremor with a magnitude of 3.1 on the Richter scale in March. The tremor took place at Al Madam area between Dubai and Fujairah.

Dibba Al Hisn

2009

Earthquake measuring 3.4 on the Richter scale at a depth of 10 kilometres in the Dibba Al Hisn in October.

Quake was felt mildly in some areas of the emirates of Fujairah and Ras Al Khaimah, noting that this activity is considered normal in the region.

Northern Emirates

2009

A 5.6 magnitude earthquake on Qeshm Island in the Strait of Hormuz area in July.

The tremor resulting from the earthquake was felt lightly in some areas in the UAE especially the northern emirates.

Some parts of Fujairah and Dibba and surrounding villages felt the tremors most. 

Fujairah and Ras Al Khaimah

2009

In June tremors measuring a magnitude of 3.9 on the Richter scale in the Strait of Hormuz near Ras Musandam.

The tremor was lightly felt in the Emirate of Fujairah and tangibly felt in the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah.
