The Jebel Jais Mountain in Ras Al Khaimah is a magnet for trekkers, long drive enthusiasts and sightseers for the winding ascent of the rocky mountain.

Besides the spectacular journey up the UAE's highest peak there is another reason why you would love to visit the place now more than ever.

Believe it or not despite the climb in Mercury and heat turning up across the country, Ras Al Khaimah is at least 10 degrees cooler than the rest of the country.

The weather in the country's northernmost emirate is very refreshingly cooler and several degrees lesser.

The highest temperature recorded in the UAE yesterday (July 27) was 45.2 degree C in Al Jazeera BG at 2:30 pm.

While at Jebel Jais the temperatures reached 31 degrees during the daytime and 27 degrees during the late afternoon.

Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority's (RAK TDA) CEO Haitham Mattar told Emarat Al Youm: "Usually, visitors and residents in different regions of the United Arab Emirates are looking for a quiet indoor haven to escape the heat, but Jais Mountain provides an opportunity for travelers and residents to venture out and enjoy nature and the refreshing atmosphere."

Jais Mountain is part of the Hajar Mountain range, famous for its mountaineering experience thanks to the winding ways carved between the rugged mountains from the sea level up to the highest summit (1,934-metre).
