Top court indicts employer for abusing labour law

The UAE’s top court overturned a sentence by a lower court acquitting an employer who abused the labour law and ordered a retrial to support the prosecutor’s plea.

A court of first instance had acquitted the employer although he was found to have let his Asian employee stay in the UAE illegally and work at other companies, prompting the prosecutor to appeal the verdict.

The prosecutor then resort to Federal Supreme Court (FSC) after a court of appeals again acquitted the employer.

“The FSC overturned that sentence and order a retrial of the employer with a new judge panel,” the Arabic language daily Emarat Al Youm said.
