Traffic across three emirates has crippled traffic conditions this morning with reports of accidents in Dubai, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi in the early hours.

Dubai Police appeared to have a busy morning with the authority confirming four accidents in the past hour across the emirate.

Updating its official Twitter account, it said: “There are several accidents on Al Rabat Road from Al Warqaa, towards Business Bay Crossing, please be extra cautious.”

This was mere minutes after an accident has been reported on Airport Road in the Airport tunnel entrance toward Al Qusais.

Meanwhile, a pile-up involving few cars have blocked at least one lane on Sheikh Zayed Road, heading towards Abu Dhabi, with one eye witness telling Emirates 24|7 that police cars and ambulances were on the scene, “But rubberneckers are not helping the situation”.

Those who have succeeded in crossing the scene of the accident will face further delays if driving towards the capital this morning with slow moving traffic reported from Maqta Bridge due to a minor accident; however, an earlier fender bender on Sheikh Zayed Street in Abu Dhabi has been cleared, as per Abu Dhabi Police’s official account.

Also, commuters travelling from Sharjah to Dubai via the Itihad Road can expect at least 30-minute delays, with “bumper to bumper traffic” being reported by some who have taken to social media in frustration.
