Latest: A vehicle has flipped over on Al Wasl Road, resulting in heavy traffic conditions on the busy artery at 1pm on Sunday.

An eyewitness told Emirates 24|7 there was heavy traffic on the road near Al Hadiqa Street cross-section, with tailbacks on Interchange two, along with slow moving vehicles on Al Wasl Road, heading north towards Bur Dubai.

"A red-coloured sedan has flipped over on Al Wasl Road, with three police vehicles already at the scene. However, the two-lane stretch is slow moving, heading in the direction of Dubai, with tailbacks also continuing on to Al Hadiqa Street and Interchange 2," said the eyewitness.

At 11.40am Abu Dhabi Police reported traffic delays on Sheikh Zayed Road, heading into the capital following a truck that had flipped on to its side.

Authorities are on the scene handling the congestion.

Motorists in the vicinity of Dubai Silicon Oasis and neighbouring Skycourts are in for a long commute on Sunday morning with multiple accidents reported in the area, and slow moving traffic heading in the directions of Dubai and Sharjah.

At 9am, the situation was yet to clear, with an eyewitness telling Emirates 24|7 of crashes at the junction of Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road and Al Ain Road, along with a second crash at the exit for Arabian Ranches.

Meanwhile, a third crash was also reported on E66, heading towards Dubai, involving a truck, a SUV and a sedan.

“The exit to Dubailand and Sharjah is blocked from Al Ain Road, with multiple vehicles pulled up on the hard shoulder. At least seven vehicles are involved in the incident and traffic still not moving despite police vehicles on the scene,” said eyewitness K Sridhar.

“The situation at the Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road junction, exiting towards Arabian Ranches is just as sticky, with a crash involving a few cars visible,” he added.

Heading further down on E66 and the Dubai bound traffic was also caught in gridlock.
“A truck is still stalled in the middle of the highway, blocking traffic; although the SUV and a sedan are pulled over to the side with a tow truck on the scene,” said Sridhar.

Meanwhile, Bur Dubai residents are also complaining of gridlock at the cross section of Al Mankhool Road and Sheikh Rashid Road, with tailbacks reported at the junction at 8.30am with traffic extending to Port Rashid junction.
