Frustrated commuters are reporting traffic jams on the roads on Monday morning, with multiple crashes on major highways across Dubai and Sharjah.

Dubai Police also confirmed traffic congestion and delays on Sheikh Zayed Road, stating jams begin from Dubai World Trade Centre Tunnel, heading towards Abu Dhabi due to a multi-vehicle accident.

A second accident near Ibn Battuta Mall has created a traffic bottleneck between DWTC and Interchange 5.

TrafficDXB tweeted: "Bad day for Abu Dhabi bound traffic today on Sheikh Zayed Road; first it was an accident near Ibn Battuta and now at World Trade Centre. Massive congestion at both ends."

Adding to the chaos are multiple accidents reported on Hessa Street in both directions near Al Asaeyel bridge, which is resulting further congestion in feeder traffic into Sheikh Zayed Road.

Another two crashes are reported on Sheikh Rashid Road, heading from Garhoud towards World Trade Centre, resulting in further traffic jams in Oud Metha and surrounding areas of Wafi Mall.

An eye-witness told Emirates 24|7: "Driving in from Sharjah today, I have seen four crashes and now I've been stuck at the Sana junction for 20 minutes because my car has moved not more than few feet."

Meanwhile, another fender bender has been reported on E66, near the Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road intersection, heading into Dubai.

Drivers are being advised to use alternates such as Al Khail if heading into Abu Dhabi.
