In line with the government's strong anti-piracy campaign, Dubai Police raided buildings in Al Ghusais area using pirate dishes.

The Economic Crime Department of Dubai Police, with support from Arab Digital Distribution (ADD), found pirate dishes installed  either in the buildings' central system or on the terraces/balconies/rooftops by individual tenants, reported 'Gulf Today'.

One of the real estate companies, following the raid, assured the authorities that all such dishes that are used for viewing channels via pirate receivers from India will be removed from all the 65 buildings managed by them in Dubai.

General Khalil Ibrahim Al Mansouri, Director-General, Inquiries and Criminal Investigation, said: The software industry loses billions of dollars each year to piracy....We are determined to continue our campaign against illegal vendors and subscribers. Piracy is not only an act of bad citizenship but an illegal act that can seriously compromise your status, your residence and your lifestyle in UAE.”

According to Majed Sahelli, Managing Director, ADD: “ADD and other operators continue to receive numerous reports of individuals, institutions and commercial properties illegally accessing television services through Dish TV across the UAE.”
