Two cars caught fire on Sheikh Zayed Road on Thursday afternoon, with a thick cloud of black smoke visible in the distance.
The accident occurred in front of Emirates Towers Hotel, and, according to eyewitness accounts, police have arrived on the scene, but emergency services had yet to arrive.
Of the two cars involved, one appears to be a silver sedan, the other a mini van.
Police are requesting drivers to avoid tailback and continue driving.
It is currently unclear if there are any casualties.
