Two women attacked in daylight over money

An Emirati and a Tajikistani allegedly assaulted two women and stole Dh700 and a mobile phone from them, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

MHS, 40, jobless, alone is accused of destroying the passport of ZN.

ZN, 33, Uzbek, visitor told police that she received a call from SB, Tajikistani whom she had lent money while they were in Iran.

“He expressed willingness to pay back the amount. I took a taxi to Hor Al Anz with my friend LI. He with other three men arrived to the place where we were waiting and assaulted us.

"Residents of the area came out and returned my bag but the money and mobile were missing,” she testified.

Her friend LI, 27, Uzbek visitor, repeated the same testimony and added that one of the assailants had pressed hard on her neck to maintain his grip.

However, Sergeant Isa Abdulrahman testified that the two women told him during investigations that SB took them towards the house of MHS where they were assaulted and robbed by four men.

MHS was asked to come to the police station where he claimed that two days prior to the incident he had given ZN Dh700.

As she continued asking him for the money, he snatched her bag and took the amount. “Her mobile phone had fallen off so I took it and ran away,” he testified to the police officer.

Police found the victim’s mobile phone in MHS' possession.

Police later arrested SB who confessed that MHS had snatched the victim’s bag and taken the money he had given hertwo days back.

According to the forensic report, the two women sustained bruises and scratches.The Court adjourned the case for verdict until October 21.
