Ministry of Health along with other health authorities have unanimously decided to take off any nasal spray containing Calcitonin from the shelves immediately, Al Khaleej reported.

It has been proven that long term use of this medication may result in cancer. Hence, British Regulatory Agency has decided to call it off.

Miacalcic and Calcitec nasal sprays which are registered with the Ministry of Health will be affected as indicated by the Abu Dhabi Health Authority.

The authority has asked all the pharmacies to return these products.

It has also requested doctors and other healthcare practitioners to report any side effects due to the use of these products to the Pharmaceutical Vigilance Centre of Health authority in Abu Dhabi.
