After yesterday’s light rains reported in parts of Dubai, Sharjah and the Northern Emirates, the UAE Met office is forecasting another round of light rains in some parts of the country today, but has warned that day temperatures are set to rise.

Maximum temperatures could reach 39°C in internal areas while coastal and mountainous regions will be slightly cooler, with maximum forecasted temperatures of 31 and 27°C, respectively.

The skies will remain overcast during the day, according to the National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS) with a cloud cover expected over coastal and western areas of the country.

The Met office has issued an awareness warning for “fresh wind at times causing rough sea due to towering clouds formation over sea” for coastal and western areas of the country while maintaining that the weather will remain “partly cloudy to cloudy in general, with another rise in day temperatures.”

“The amount of clouds will increase at times, especially over the coasts, the western areas, and the islands, with a chance of some rain,” the NCMS forecast reads.

Barring occasional light showers that tend to bring down the mercury, daytime temperatures have been on the rise in the UAE over the past couple of weeks, with the country heading towards the summer season.
