UAE participates in Arab anti-narcotics meeting

The UAE participated in the 30th conference of chiefs of anti-narcotics agencies in Arab countries which began on Thursday in the Tunisian capital to discuss ways of bolstering intra-Arab co-operation in fighting drugs, exchange of information and shared experiences.

The UAE delegation is headed by Deputy Director-General of the Anti-Narcotic Federal Directorate- General at the Ministry of Interior Colonel Abdul Rahman Al Owais, and includes Deputy Director of the anti-narcotics department of Dubai Police Lieutenant-Colonel Hassan Ayoub.

Secretary-General of the Arab Interior Ministers Council Dr. Mohammed bin Ali Koman, in opening remarks, stressed the need for combating illicit narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances.

The two-day meeting, organised by the pan-Arab body, will cover issues like international developments in illegal drug trade, impact on the Arab region, as well as legal action by Arab states to monitor chemicals used in the manufacture of illegal drugs.
